Elements Flamboro year by year

Flamboro Downs, the harness track on Highway 5 at Dundas, was founded by Charles Juravinski. His name is now carried by the track's signature race. Ownership changed twice in two years. Magna Entertainment bought the track in 2003. Great Canadian Gaming bought it in 2005.

The gaming facility at Flamboro opened in 1999, next to the racetrack. Hamilton is its host community, and the payments to the city are made through OLG. By June 29, 2023, the facility had provided $100 million to the City of Hamilton.

A single year gives a sense of the scale. In the fiscal year ending March 31, 2023, the City of Hamilton received over $5.3 million in host payments driven by Elements Casino Flamboro. The casino employed about 150 team members in 2023. That count does not include racetrack staff.

Until May 1, 2018, the casino was called OLG Slots at Flamboro Downs. That day, Great Canadian Gaming and Clairvest completed their purchase of OLG's West GTA gaming bundle. The buyer was the Ontario Gaming West GTA Limited Partnership: Great Canadian held 55%, Clairvest 45%. Effective the same day, four West GTA facilities became Elements casinos.

Three of them are in this guide: Flamboro, Brantford and Grand River. The fourth lies outside this guide's area. Elements Casino Flamboro is operated by Great Canadian Entertainment. OLG still conducts and manages all casino gaming in Ontario, and the AGCO regulates the operators.

Elements Casino Flamboro is open 24/7, every day of the week. The live table games keep shorter hours. They run Sunday to Thursday from 11 AM to 1 AM, and Friday and Saturday from 11 AM to 3 AM. Holiday hours should be checked on the casino's own site.

Published table limits start at $5 for low-limit tables, and blackjack starts at $15. The operator notes that table minimums depend on the day's business needs and demand. Opening and closing times for tables can change as well.

Great Canadian Rewards is the loyalty program here. Reward Points are earned on slots and electronic table games, not on live tables. Each 100 points equal $1 in Slot Play. Points expire after six consecutive calendar months without recorded gaming activity. The casino also has an in-person sports betting kiosk and complimentary parking.

Flamboro Downs runs live harness racing on Thursday, Saturday and Sunday. Those three days make up the live racing week. Simulcasting runs from 12 PM, seven days a week.

The track's signature race is the Charles Juravinski Memorial Cup. It was first run in 1977 as the Confederation Cup Pace. In 2022 it was renamed after Charles Juravinski, the track's co-founder. Race nights and casino hours follow separate schedules, so both should be checked before a visit.
